Chain length guide
Chain length changes how a pendant sits. Here is where each common length usually falls on an adult.
- 16 inches: at the base of the neck.
- 18 inches: at the collarbone, the most popular pendant length.
- 20 inches: just below the collarbone.
- 22 inches: above most necklines.
- 24 inches: at the top of the chest.
- 30 inches: long, for layering or wearing over clothes.
Thickness and bails
Chains are listed with their width in millimeters. A 1.1 to 1.5 mm chain fits most pendant bails; heavier Cuban and Franco chains suit pendants with a wide bail.
